171. What Is Your Leadership Profile? | 你的領導力風格是什麼?

We want to be leaders in our lives, in our careers, in our families, and in the community. It is essential to assess our leadership attributes to know which qualities are important, where we stand, and how others view us. With such assessment and reflection, we can then understand how and where to strive for improvements to reach our personal goals.

For me, a useful tool to start this journey is to construct a “4Q-6C” Leadership Profile (or Radar Chart). A good leader must have a high IQ (intelligence quotient) to tackle complex technical and business issues, a good EQ (emotional quotient) to respond to people’s feelings, a broad CQ (cultural quotient) to be aware of trends and the surrounding environment, and a diligent WQ (work quotient) to be a role model in putting in every effort to get things done. The importance of these 4Qs, and the different emphasis by Eastern and Western leaders, was discussed in Blog 45: 4Qs to Succeed.

From my years of experience, teaching, and mentoring, I have noticed that most successful corporate leaders or entrepreneurs exhibit these 6C attributes:

  • Competence: possess technical and business expertise in their chosen fields.
  • Compassion: are passionate about their goals and what they want to achieve.
  • Courage: are willing to take bold action and are not afraid of stumbling or failing.
  • Conscientiousness: are keenly aware of their efforts, endeavors, and the consequences.
  • Communication: can convey and persuade employees, customers, and sponsors to be part of their endeavors.
  • Connection: cultivate broad-based connections to learn, support, and collaborate.

The accompanying chart suggests the steps for using the 4Q-6C profile for self-assessment, peer feedback, and gap analysis to become a more well-rounded leader, a valuable team member, or to form a high-performance team.

Of course, depending on your personal situation and leadership style, you may want to construct a different profile chart to guide yourself. I look forward to seeing your leadership profile and your action plan for becoming a leader in every aspect of your life. Good Luck!

            我們每個人都希望在生活、工作、家庭以及社會中,成為一位有影響力的領導者。而要成為一個好領導,首先需要對自己的領導特質有一些了解,知道哪些特質是重要的、自己目前在哪個位置、別人又是怎麼看待自己的。有了這樣的認識和省思,我們才更能清楚該從哪裡開始努力,讓自己朝向理想的方向邁進。

對我來說,一個很實用的起點工具是建立一份「4Q-6C 領導力特質圖(或稱雷達圖)」。所謂的好領導,除了要有高智商(IQ),能處理複雜的技術和商業問題外,還需要有高情商(EQ),能理解並回應他人的情緒;同時也要具備寬廣的文化智商(CQ),對周遭的環境和趨勢有敏銳的洞察力;再加上勤奮工作的精神指數(WQ),才能身體力行、以身作則。這四種能力的重要性,以及東西方領導者在這些能力上有什麼不同的著重點,我在先前的文章中也曾經分享過。

此外,根據我多年來的經驗與教學輔導觀察,絕大多數成功的企業領袖或創業家,通常都具備以下六種「6C」特質:

Competence (專業能力):在自己選擇的領域裡,有足夠的技術與商業專業。

Compassion (熱情與關懷):對目標有熱情,對想完成的事情懷有信念。

Courage (勇氣):願意大膽行動、不害怕跌倒或失敗。

Conscientiousness (自律與自覺):清楚自己在做什麼,對結果有責任感。

Communication (溝通力):能有效傳達想法,讓員工、客戶或合作夥伴一起投入。

Connection (建立連結):擴展人脈,持續學習、互相支持、一起合作。

文中附上的圖表提供了一個方法,讓你們可以利用這個「4Q-6C」架構來進行自我評估、同儕回饋,以及找出自己與理想之間的差距。無論是想成為更全面的好領導,還是高績效團隊的一員,這都會是一個很有幫助的工具。
