163. Playing Candy Crush Saga | 小甜蜜大上癮 —揭開Candy Crush Saga成功的秘密

Recently, I started playing a digital game called Candy Crush Saga on my mobile phone. It was quite an interesting experience. I found myself hooked by it, and so I began to analyze why the game is so popular and long-lasting over the years.

The basic rule of the game is to crush the designated candies with a limited number of moves. It is simple and easy to get into. But there are some ingenious attributes built into it that make it successful.

1. Visually appealing colorful graphics:

It brightens my mood when I switch the game on to take a break from my work. The colors and sounds of the game please my senses and bring me to a relaxed mood instantly.

• Easy rules and tools to learn and use for beginners:

There are no tedious rules and explanations in the game. You just learn by doing. After a few failures, you figure out the objectives and the power of various tools. It is similar to how we teach machines to learn in AI. We humans can also learn by observing, experimenting, and making mistakes through practice and repetition.

• Satisfying the basic psychological needs:

There are constant rewards and encouragements along the route of the game to keep you motivated and feeling good about even the smallest accomplishment. The available competition with friends and the assistance from buddies add a nice social element to the game.

• Elements of variation and surprises:

Along the journey of advancing in the game, you sometimes encounter new twists of objectives and receive new powerful tools to use. The unexpected surprises satisfy the human need for variation and adventure.

• Clever monetization of the game:

During the game, you get opportunities to buy additional steps or new tools to achieve your goals. Or if you don’t want to pay real money, you have the option to watch paid advertisements for extra tools. The two options yield a successful business model to sustain this long-running game.

It is fascinating for me to play the game and analyze the reasons for its success.

              最近我開始玩一款叫做《Candy Crush Saga》的手機遊戲，體驗還蠻有趣的。我發現自己一下就沉迷進去了，於是開始分析為什麼這款遊戲能夠這麼受歡迎，而且長盛不衰。

          遊戲的基本規則很簡單，就是在有限的步數內消除指定的糖果，簡單又容易上手。但遊戲裡藏了些巧妙的設計，讓它變得成功而且吸引人。

1. 視覺上吸引人的多彩畫面： 每次打開遊戲放鬆一下，都會讓我心情變好。遊戲的色彩和音效讓人愉悅，瞬間就能放鬆心情。
