138. Lovely Youth | 致 青春！

This spring, I got a chance to visit some high schools and universities, and I met quite a few lovely youths. Several of their attributes stood out and made quite an impression on me.
Physical Appearance: The youths seem to be taller now. I had to tilt my head up when talking with them. They also seem to be in better physical shape, without as much obesity. I hope this is a general trend and not just in the schools I visited.
Energy and Laughter: The way young people walk, bounce, and run makes it seem like they have springs attached to their feet. And they can’t talk for a few sentences without giggling or laughing. They are easily amused by many little things and the occurrences around them. It is a joy for me to watch them walk and talk with boundless energy and happiness.
Confidence and Dreams: There are more and more young people who want to be entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams and utilize their special talents. They are full of confidence and maybe a touch of naivety too. Just like toddlers, they run, they fall down, and then they get up. That is how they make progress and do great things. I love to see their faces and listen to their speeches when I judge their entrepreneur funding proposals. Their faces brighten up and their speech quickens as they get excited about describing their ideas and dreams.
Forward-Looking: The youth of today have so many possibilities ahead of them. They are constantly looking forward — to graduation, dating and marriage, finding their first job and receiving their first paycheck, living in a new house and a new city … They don’t look back or reminisce about their past. The future and the world are theirs to explore and enjoy.
I am lucky to have opportunities to interact with many youths at various occasions — to listen to their laughter, to watch the bounce in their steps, to hear their dreams for the future, and to experience some of their boundless energy.
As an aging senior, all I can say is “Lovely youth, I adore you and I envy you.”

這個春天，我剛好有機會去參觀一些高中及大專院校，遇見了很多可愛的年輕人。他們有好多鮮明的特性，讓我印象深刻。
外表：現在的年輕人好像變得更高了！跟他們講話時，都得仰著頭來。而且體態也更好了，很少過胖的身形。希望這是個普遍的趨勢，而不僅僅是出現在我們參觀的這幾個學校。
活力與歡笑：年輕人走路、跳躍和奔跑的方式，就像是腳上隨時黏著彈簧；每講幾句話都要咯咯地笑一下；很容易被周遭瑣碎的事情給逗樂。看著他們帶著無比能量、快樂地走路和說話，讓我覺得很開心。
自信與夢想：越來越多的年輕人想要成為创業家，追求自己的夢想、發揮自己的特長。他們充滿著自信，也許有些天真；但就像蹣跚學步的孩子一般，他們奔跑、跌倒、然後再爬起來。這就是他們取得進度，並且做偉大事情的方式。當我作為他們的创業投資評估委員時，我喜歡看著他們、聽他們演說。當他們在描述自己的概念跟夢想時，他們的臉龐都亮了起來、說起話來也更加俐落。
向前邁進：青春有太多的可能，他們不斷地在向前看；畢業、約會、結婚，找到第一個工作、獲得第一份薪水、住上新房子、到新的城市等等。他們不再回望或想著過去，未來和整個世界才是他們所探索和追求的。
我何其幸運，能有機會在不同的場合和年輕學子們互動。聽他們笑、看他們蹦蹦跳跳的步伐、聆聽他們對未來的夢想、感染到他們無限的能量！
作為一個上了年紀的前輩，我只想說：”可愛的年輕人: 我羨慕你们， 也嫉妒你们！”
